WHAT'S THE CONTEXT?

SAGA is a school project focus on building a brand and creating an online community to help and support women during menstrual. During the research, we found that we need to target three different users, including women, boyfriend and husband, and single parents to achieve our goal to embrace women.

 

THE CHALLENGE

The challenge was to build a brand and create user experience target on different audiences. And the challenge including:

  • How to change perspective about periods and stigma around it of being bad/ sad days?

  • How to help to convey concern and build up close relationships?

  • How to define the value of mensuration and care needed.

WHY IS THIS A PROBLEM?

In our project, we saw the basis on menstrual and most of the women care products were focus on women themselves instead of considering the people who companion them every day. From secondary research, we collected people’s attitudes towards menstrual.

PERSONA

Interviewing 8 people at the age of 22 to 45, we identified 3 personas with different motivations and frustrations, including women to do self-care, husband or boyfriend to conveys concern to build a close relationship and concern from single parents.

USER EXPERIENCE MAP

Collecting period experience through a contextual inquiry from a woman and her boyfriend.

 

KEY FINDING

01/

Need of companion

Having someone by your side makes this hard time easy to pass. Like the guidance from parents and doctors are always helpful or a little gesture of hot water bag. even a hug can do wonders.

02/

Need of preparedness

Guidance and consultation are required to every girl to make her aware, of her body. Preparedness is helpful to absorb the first-time experience a girl goes through during her periods.

03/

Need of motivation

A woman needs the motivation to keep herself on track while going through periods. She should be encouraged while she is working hard to achieve her goal.

04/

Need of

relaxation

Stress could bring complications during periods. So to avoid any complications a good sleep and relaxation are required.

05/

Need of communications

Before the period, the boyfriend and husband are able to notice the fluctuation of his girlfriend, but he still feels confused about what he should do to release the anxious mood of his girlfriend.

06/

Need of instructions

Men’s experience of taking care of his girlfriend came from his own experience and some social media, he wanted to get more suggestions about that. And he thinks providing some purchase guidance would be very helpful for him.

BRAND DESIGN

The top three values are: Health+Awareness+Togetherness

The name is SAGA [sa·ga] means a long, involved story, account, or series of incidents. Menstruation is as historic as the birth of women. And, is heroic to be able to go through it every month.

And we choose neutral colors to fit all genders
